Humane Unveils Groundbreaking $699 AI-Powered Projector Wearable: The AI Pin

Electronic Devices

Humane, a discreet startup comprising ex-Apple luminaries like Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, has finally pulled back the curtain on its inaugural consumer product—the "AI Pin." This innovative wearable projector, backed by industry giants OpenAI's Sam Altman and Microsoft, redefines the intersection of technology and daily life.

At its core, the AI Pin serves as a versatile accessory, blending seamlessly into everyday activities. Boasting an ultrawide RGB camera, the device captures photos, sends text messages, and responds to inquiries with ChatGPT-like capabilities. Operating on AI models from both OpenAI and Microsoft, the AI Pin represents a culmination of years of anticipation and teasers.

However, beneath its sleek, all-aluminum exterior lies a device with substance. Weighing approximately 55 grams, equivalent to a tennis ball, the AI Pin requires a magnetic battery pack for secure attachment to clothing. For those with bulkier attire, Humane offers a separate clip-on accessory. Notably, Imran Chaudhri advises individuals with pacemakers to consult their doctors due to potential magnetic interference.

In an interview with Wired, Chaudhri highlighted the device's durability, recounting how he seamlessly integrated the AI Pin into various physical activities, including biking and running. Despite its compact nature, the wearable survived a one-and-a-half-meter fall on different surfaces, showcasing its robust design. The AI Pin emerges not only as a technological marvel but also as a testament to Humane's commitment to seamlessly integrating cutting-edge innovation into everyday life.
